The scripture says in Romans 1:16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also for the Greek. So, just what is the gospel? I love the way John Piper answers this question; The Gospel is the news that Jesus Christ, the Righteous One, died for our sins and rose again, eternally triumphant over all his enemies, so that there is now no condemnation for those who believe, but only everlasting joy. That’s the gospel.
The most important decision that you will ever make is what will you do with this gospel? I’m sure that you have heard the most famous scripture of them all, John 3:16 which says; 16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. So what about you? Do you believe it? I mean have you really embraced it? You see, the Bible is clear, even the demons believe. Coming to some mental understanding that you would say, yeah, I think I believe that Jesus is the Son of God and all is not the kind of belief that scripture teaches. To believe is also to receive, to accept Jesus for who He says He is, LORD and Savior. There is no fire insurance policy with some weak belief! We need to submit our lives to the Lordship of Jesus Christ and understand that He is the only way for us to enter heaven. God gave His son for a very specific reason; to die in my place and yours. Each one of us has violated a Holy God by our sin. Jesus has paid the price for our sin because God loves us and gave Jesus to us for this very reason.
So I ask you, what have you done with the gospel? I urge you to simply embrace the gospel that Jesus Christ, the Son of God died for your sins. He was raised on the third day, victorious over all his enemies. Forgiveness of sins and a right standing with God comes freely through Christ alone, by faith alone. Please, I beg you, Don’t put it off.
